Deliver stems and multitracks cleanly for mixing

A mix starts in your export folder, not in the DAW. This guide goes with mixing at Mislikervyraxi — balance, space and dynamics with 2 revision rounds per track included.

Producer sorts stems and drives on desk before mixing.

When stems instead of a session

If you tracked with us, we usually hand over a session or consolidated tracks on an agreed medium. When material was recorded elsewhere, or you send band DIs from a home setup, the rules below apply. Mix engineer Noor van der Meer expects one clear folder per song.

Rates: €175 per track, EP up to six songs €595; extra revision round €55 per track after the 2 rounds in the standard price. Ask via contact if you have more than six titles.

Technical baseline

Supply uncompressed WAV, preferably 24-bit; sample rate consistent per project (44.1 kHz for streaming release, 48 kHz for video sync). No mp3 or AAC as mix source. Export from the same start point (bar 1, beat 1) — all tracks equal length, including silence at the end so reverb tails are not cut.

Check mono compatibility of bass and kick; label dual stereo DIs left/right. Note tempo, key and capo in a readme.txt in the root folder. Apply fades only if you deliberately want shorter tails — slightly long is safer; the mix engineer can trim cleanly.

Naming and folders

Use ASCII names without spaces: SongTitle_DrumKick.wav. Group per song:

  • 01_SongTitle/stems/ for audio
  • 01_SongTitle/reference/ for a rough mix or reference (optional)

Avoid final_final_v3; use version numbers in the readme. Multiple vocal takes: VocalLead_Take01 and mark the favourite in the readme.

What to print per instrument

SourceTip
DrumsKick, snare, overheads and room separate; not only a crushed drum bus
Guitar/bassDI plus optional amp; no reverb on export unless intentional
Keys/synthStems per important element; sidechain is fine if noted
VocalDry lead; doubles separate; no heavy autotune without raw backup

If you did vocals or band recording here, we often skip stem delivery — we hold the session. Partial exports from our 18-month archive may still carry a fee; your quote states that.

References and loudness

Send one or two reference tracks (not hyper-limited masters) and describe what you want from them: guitar width, vocal level, punch. Say what you do not want copied. References steer balance, not exact loudness.

If you already limited mixes, also supply an unlimited bounce. Then mastering from €75 per track can handle final translation.

Delivery and security

Use a download link valid at least 18 days or a courier drive; checksum or file size in the readme helps verification. Large projects: zip per song, not one huge file that times out.

No personal data in file names. For B2B jobs, payment within 21 days after invoice once mix is approved; see terms and conditions. Confidential lyrics: tell us; we handle files under privacy policy.

Revision workflow

After the first mix we send stereo previews (format agreed upfront). Note feedback with timecodes: 1:42 vocal down slightly. Bundle changes per round — 2 rounds are for fine-tuning, not a full genre swap.

Extra round €55 per track. Major arrangement changes after approval need a new mix line item. Unsure about stem count vs budget, read plan a band session for tracking efficiency.

Quick check before upload

  • All tracks start on the same grid
  • No clipping on individual exports
  • Readme with bpm, key and contact [email protected]
  • References in separate folder
  • Zip tested by unpacking yourself

Ready? Send your link and track list via contact. We confirm receipt and start date within 3 business days. Clear sample rights before mixing; for spoken content see audiobook rights basics — music follows label or collective rules separately. Unsure about track count: one song with ten stems counts as one track in our mix rate unless the quote says otherwise.
