Vocals and voice
At Overtoom 141 you track lead lines, stacks and spoken copy in an isolation booth while an engineer listens with you—not over you.

Whether you are finishing a single, cutting a quick demo or recording narration for a show, you need a dry room, a microphone that suits your tone and a headphone mix where the vocal sits clearly. Mislikervyraxi runs 2 booths and 16 preamps so we can swap chains quickly without burning session time.
The session follows your pace. Some artists want many passes and notes on pitch; others prefer to work alone while we handle levels and file naming. Both work. When time is up you receive labelled WAV stems; comping and light edits stay within the booked block unless we agree otherwise through contact.
How it works
- 01
Brief
Send tempo, key, backing track and references. We load the session before you arrive and hold the booth.
- 02
Setup
Mic choice, pop filter, headphone mix and gain staging. Allow fifteen to twenty-five minutes before take one.
- 03
Tracking
Full passes, then targeted punch-ins. We flag favourite takes in the session as we go.
- 04
Handover
Comping where agreed, stem export, short walkthrough of folders. We keep a backup for 18 months.
Who this is for
Singers and rappers finishing a track, songwriters preparing a publisher demo, podcast hosts recording an intro, and bands adding lead or choir after a band session—the vocal booth is built for solo voice work. Spoken lines for internal video are fine when the deliverable is audio, not a full video edit.
You must be at least 16 to book on your own. Younger voices are possible with a parent or guardian present; see terms and conditions for studio access rules.
Room and signal path
The booths sit in Oud-West, reachable via Tram 1 and 13 stop Overtoom, about a three-minute walk. Bus 15 stops on Haarlemmerweg; roughly seven minutes from there. Bike racks and shared bikes on the street.. Glass to the control room keeps visual contact with the engineer. The treatment is dry enough for rap and pop without feeling claustrophobic.
We pick condenser mics for detail, dynamics for loud delivery, and set gentle preamp gain before the converter. Default capture is high-resolution WAV; sample rate matches your project when you tell us in advance.
How a session runs
Arrive at the booked time. After a quick check of your files you enter the booth with lyrics, water and an adjustable stand. The engineer watches both you and the meters from the desk.
A test pass sets distance and sibilance. Then we work section by section. Breaks are yours—a tired voice rarely prints usable lines. Most artists cover two to four songs in a half day, depending on doubles and choir layers.
What to bring
Send your instrumental as WAV or a DAW session with clear track names at least a day ahead. Add lyrics plus two or three reference tracks for vocal tone—not to copy, but to aim direction.
Your own headphones are welcome. Skip very cold drinks and heavy dairy right before tracking; our voice prep guide lists simple warm-ups you can do at home. Remember cloud logins if files live online.
Delivery and formats
By default you get folders per song with raw takes and, when agreed, compiled lead and backing WAVs at 24-bit, 48 kHz. Names include song title and take number so an outside mixer can import fast.
We can add a rough balance for home listening on request. Full DAW projects are shared only when planned upfront because of plug-in versions. Files go out via secure link or to your drive on site.

Booking, deposit and cancellation
We reply within 3 business days with availability and confirmed pricing. A 35% deposit locks the date; the balance is due before or right after the session depending on invoice type.
Free rescheduling applies up to 5 days ahead. Later changes follow terms. Hours: Monday–Friday 09:30–18:30, Saturday 10:00–16:00, Sunday closed..
Not included
A finished mix, blanket tuning on every note, script editing, translation and off-site engineer travel are not part of vocal studio hire. Artistic pitch correction as an effect is possible when booked with extra time.
Remote producers listening over the internet are not standard; control-room focus stays on you in the booth. Usage rights are covered in terms; audiobook narrators should read audiobook recording too.
After tracking
Continuing with mixing here means we keep your session folder—no re-export round trip. Many clients send stems elsewhere; our naming is built for that handoff.
